Brenden and I have not gone to the beach in a few years but when we do go to the beach we always go to Florida beaches. This year, we got invited to go on a trip to Top Sail, North Carolina. I had been to the east coast beaches one time before when I was a kid and have not been back since so I was excited to get on this side of the world.
We headed out on Thursday after work with a car full of food, bags, beer and friends. It took 6.5 hours to get there which I was not expecting! But I filled my time in the car by watching Friday Night Lights the TV Show. We finally got there at 2am and we could not see anything past the back deck on the condo.
We woke up Friday morning to a gorgeous bay with a dock and a boat and all of our friends with us. This group of friends is something special. Everyone gets each other and understands what we are there for... FUN! We quickly got our things together and loaded up the boat to head out to Top Sail Beaches. We took the boat through the bay and honestly, this was my favorite part. The wind in my hair and a cold beer in my hand. It was definitely summertime this weekend!
Once we got through the bay, we parked the boat at our own private beach! Everyone got out the chairs and the boys got their spike ball out and the music was playing in the background while we all sat and enjoyed each others company. I can't even remember what we were talking about but it does not even matter because we were all peachy keen!
We enjoyed hot dogs on the beach and then headed over to another house at the bay that had a pool with a huge flamingo float... what more could you need. After the pool, we came back to the condo where we got ready for the night of games and fun. A few games in and everyone was exhausted from the sun and we hit the sack early.
The next morning, a Dunkin Donuts run was necessary. We filled up on sugar and coffee and loaded up the boat again to head to the beach for more fun in the sun! This time we took the boat to a different beach but again very private. I was so impressed with these beaches. We were able to ride jet skis and enjoy more games on the beach. We were all so burnt from the day before that this beach day was not as long.
We came back to the dock and danced the afternoon away while the golden retrievers swam in the bay and we jumped off the dock! This group of friends is seriously one that cannot be beat. They all are gems of a human and we are so lucky to have found them in our little community called Chamblee. To be exact CrossFit Chamblee. We all work out together but we all know the balance of a good time and a hard workout. I am forever thankful for this group of friends and cannot wait to take more vacations together!
