Mother-Daughter Trip to Chattanooga

This past weekend, my sister and I planned a Mother-Daughter trip to Chattanooga. We have talked about doing a number of these and never put the plans into action. So this year I reserved the place as my Mom's Christmas present to make sure that it happened. And it worked out perfectly that it was right after Mother's Day!

Chattanooga was the perfect spot for our trip because I am in Atlanta, my sister is in Birmingham and our mom is dead center between the two of us. With just a quick drive north, we were in Chattanooga. My mom brought us here when we were kids but we did not remember going. And everything has changed so much it was like going to a whole new city.

On Friday night, we stayed in our neighborhood and went to a cute little burger joint in North Chattanooga called Tremont Tavern. We indulged in greasy food and delicious craft beers. Afterwards, we walked the bridge with some ice cream from Clumpies. Of course as we were walking the pedestrian bridge, we see a storm rolling in fast and we are still far away from our cars. We casually walked the bridge until we could see the rain drops and then sprinted to the car just in the nick of time!

Saturday morning was the Royal Wedding for Harry and Megan. My mom still remembers waking up for Princess Diane's wedding. So we popped right up and got to make that memory with each other as we watched their nuptials. After the wedding and they were riding through town waving at everyone, we decided we were hungry and we started to get ready to go out for the day.

Milk and Honey is what's for breakfast (or brunch) because it was almost 11:30am in Atlanta. I ate an extremely satisfying Turkey Sandwich and Power Salad that carried me through most of the day. After brunch, we went to the Tennessee Aquarium where my sister and I definitely remembered coming as kids. While we were downtown, we ran into the Chattanooga Ironman that was happening the next day. All the athletes were doing test runs and setting their bikes up so we toured the expo and then left to drive up the mountain and see the sharpest turn in the city - which was pretty scary!

We picked up a family friend who had just moved to Chattanooga and took her out for the day by visiting the Incline Railway! This was soo fun. We started at the top of the mountain, road the incline down the mountain and again stopped for ice cream... It is girls weekend after all :)

After we rode the Incline back up the mountain, it was time for dinner and we wanted pizza! We found a cute little spot in downtown called Community Pie and shared a LARGE pizza that was just perfect for the four of us. After dinner, we took our friend home and then headed back to our Airbnb to watch The Greatest Showman. This was my first time seeing it and I became obsessed. We decided our next girls trip is going to see that on Broadway in New York!!

On Sunday morning, it was time for us to leave but we were not ready to leave. We had breakfast together at the Daily Ration and it was soo yummy! I know it seems like we ate our way through the city and that's kind of exactly what we did. I have some of my fondest memories of my family sitting around a table talking and enjoying each others company. With some sites thrown in, we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away.

We all said this needs to be annual trip so now it's on to plan the next one! Hopefully New York to see The Greatest Showman and maybe a few other Broadway shows.
